I was really suprised that BMW have declined to offer a manual option; potenial buyers looking for a fair-dinkum clutch will be forced to look at Porsche’s options, or something like a Corvette or even a W427 HSV.

I was incredibly lucky to drive the Maroon M8 Replica for the day. The 4.9 litre V8 from an E49 M5 resides under the bonnet, and peak power is estimated at around the 500 BHP mark. It was fantastic experience, but there is more of a write up around the corner. Stay tuned 2.25 power!

Don’t let the number plates fool you – this is another 8 series (same as the maroon M8 replica). It is a very rare model Hartge, given the full treatment including complete powertrain, suspension and interior modifications. It’s an intriguing car, and information is few and far between. I am going to dig up some more info and post it up for you.

Volkswagen haven’t been too specific yet as to what will happen to the R32 when the R20 comes around. Everyone else is opting for low-capacity, high-power engines aided by forced induction, and VW have world-leading technology in this department. I wouldn’t be suprised if the 32 was canned in favour for the 20, which would be a shame (they sound soooo good!)
