In a super-limited production run of just 35 units, prospective buyers will have to be quick to get their hands on the new Lotus Exige ‘Scura’ (Italian for dark, incase you are wondering).
Of course, the most obvious alteration is on the paintwork. Offset by gloss-black stripes, carbon-fibre and lairy vents and scoops,Lotus claims the new Scura is a ’stealth option’, whilst turning heads at the same time. Nothing like a dose of bipolar in your choice of vehicle, hey.
Alterations are more than trendoid-skin deep, thankfully. The well-known and respecited Toyota 1.8 produces an equally respectable power output of 190 kw. Lightweight wheels and carbon-fibre additions also see the weight drop by a not-exactly-earth-shattering 10kg.
Kerb weight now sits at around 925 kilograms. Performance will be your average Lotus fantastic, especially for those track-day tyrants. 100km/h can be attained after just over four seconds from a standing start, and the Scura will pull happily until the 250km/h limit.
If you so desire, launch control and two-way adjucstable dampers can be included on the limited-run Exige.
