In a bid to work up a quasi-frenzy before the release of yet another model variation, Audi has released a tricky snapshot of the upcoming A5 ‘Sportback’.

With a family expanding faster than Madonna’s, the A5 will spearhead Audi’s next salvo of genre-warping models. Along with it, expect an A7 4-door coupe, an A1 ‘premium hatch’, aand another SUV as the Ingolstadt giant barrels towards a 2015 goal of 1.5 million vehicle sales.
The Sportback will aim to bring together everything that a customer wants in one model. Imagine, you bought a nice A5 coupe, and you’re a hit with the ladies. But, you can’t fit everything in the car and you are forced to trade in for an Avant station wagon. The ladies disappear.
Enter Sportback. Elegant, athletic and appealing with a low-slung roofline and muscular rear, but can still swallow up to 480 litres with the seats still up (not far off an A4 Avant). Fold the seats down, and you can jam in an impressive 980 litres of gear.
